One late summer's eve in the lowland The devil so tired and bored I need someone new to amuse me A soul to lighten my load I'll travel the world for my pleasure And visit a faraway land Where nature is bursting with treasure I'll search and collect what I can A week or so thereafter He came to a wonderful land Rivers running down ledges Like silver on fair maidens hands Upon him came an old woman Her eyes were filled up with tears He said: tell me your worries And told her to lose all her fears The devils bridge, stands strong and tall The devils gone forever more She pointed at all of her cattle Lost on the rivers wrong side There is nowhere for me to cross over The dangerous current will ride But fear not my gentle old woman For I will build you a bridge Remember now it's a bargain The first soul to cross I will keep Oh well thought the worldly old woman Only the future will tell She promptly returned at first sun light With a trusty old stray by her side As soon as she came to the river She could not believe her own eyes A bridge so handsome and solid From nowhere seemed to arise The devils bridge, stands strong and tall The devils gone forever more And now said the cunning old devil You must give me my prize So slowly she walked to the edge With the trusty old stray by her side But then she drew from her pocket A loaf and tossed it across The stray chased thereafter The first living soul to cross Oh no, cried the shamed old devil I have no use for your stray You need to honour your bargain The woman replied with a wave And here my friends ends the story The devil would never return To the land of the mist covered mountains Where the bridge in his memory remain The devils bridge, stands strong and tall The devils gone forever more

You look at me with sad and lonely eyes you talk to me of all that you despise you come to me and try to patronize but don't you know that you could lead a better life Comatose through all your lies Only happy stepping out in your disguise Looking back at your advise Another turn that lead to your demise She looks at me with laughing sultry eyes she turns me on but it's always compromised she comes to me with her games and is surprised with all the strain that goes along with her life He tells me all I need to know about his plans He still believes that he can be a better man It could have been so different in another time I start to see the lines grow deeper around his eyes Comatose through all your lies Only happy stepping out in your disguise Looking back at your advise Another turn that lead to your demise I sit alone in this overcrowded town and see the circles in my glass swim around I ask myself why I chose to sick around when I have seen so many others sink and drown

Fantom lights control the wilderness The monochrome world of the night Silent life moving within me Dispel the tight growing knot of pain Freeing chains Freeing strains Freeing pains Freeing chains The quiet truth grew in confidence Stop me from being overwhelmed Completely neutral, completely unperturbed Sincerity and wast duplicity Freeing chains Freeing strains Freeing pains Freeing chains Forgotten souls floating without breath Borrowed lies wake me from the past Remember me walking through the lanes Chasing dreams and stealing them away Fleeing chains Feeing strains Freeing pains Freeing chains
